Discover the Heart of the Alps – Tirol

Today we’re delighted to share a bit more information about Tirol, the host region of this year’s Social Travel Summit. The name “Tirol” summons immediate images of mountains and snow sports for many people, but there really is so much more to this unique region of the world. We hope this post by Tirol – Werbung will reveal what else there is to enjoy in Tirol and in Kitzbühel during your upcoming visit as part of #STSKitzbuehel.

Hiking? Mountain biking? Rock climbing? Alpine skiing? Cross-country skiing? Tobogganing in snowy landscapes? These are just a handful of the many things you can see, do and enjoy in Tirol across all the seasons. From the Ötztal, Paznauntal, Pitztal, Zillertal and Stubaital Valleys to East Tirol, Lake Achensee, the regional capital Innsbruck and the legendary ski resort of Kitzbühel, visitors to Tirol should expect a majestic and enchanting mountain landscape they’ll never forget. That’s without mentioning the 500 peaks over 3,000m, the 600+ glaciers along the main Alpine ridge, miles of lush green meadows and countless charming mountain huts. So, what can you really expect from a holiday in Tirol.. both in winter AND summer?

Summer in Tirol

During sunny and warm summer months in Tirol, hikers and climbers can roam through gentle uplands, master the long-distance trekking trails, or scale one of the many mountain peaks. Whether you are walking, mountain hikingor trekking: you are bound to find a route to suit amongst the 24,000 kilometres of marked trails.

If you love to pedal there are 5,600 kilometers of designated mountain bike tracks and 230 kilometers of single-track trails to explore around Tirol. But don’t be fooled, Tirol is also home to scenic high-altitude drives and winding valley rides, which means it also lures cycling families and road bikers to its scenic roadways. That said, there is no sport that lets you “feel”the mountain like rock climbing. Tirol offers a huge range of vertical challenges for all ages and abilities, from family-friendly climbing areas to daunting bouldering opportunities that will challenge even experts. Other activities such as canyoning, rafting or kite surfing will also definitely get your adrenalin flowing.

Visitors with children will also discover that Tirol is a perfect place for a family getaway also with lots of child-friendly outdoor activities and amenities, including plenty of crystal clear lakes to cool off in when the weather gets a little hot, which it definitely can in Tirol, despite the view of snow-capped mountains in the background…

Winter in Tirol

Needless to say, winter holidays in Tirol are also an unforgettable experience. Home to over 80 ski areas
and a skiable terrain of around 3,000 kilometres, Tirol offers some of the most epic trails
and thrilling pistes you can find in Europe and beyond.

Having so many superb ski resorts makes Tirol the number one ski and snowboard destination in the European Alps. Nordic skiing is another great way to experience winter in Tirol; avoid the busy lines and lifts, and go at your own pace through the Alpine wilderness. No winter holiday in Tirol would be complete without an excursion into the snowy mountain landscape. Here in the heart of the Alps visitors can look forward to dedicated regions specialising in winter hiking and snow-shoeing. Another gentle winter activity popular with all the family is tobogganing.

After all that action, why not experience a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride or warm up in front of a roaring log fire? And don’t forget to stop off at one of the local huts to sample some of the regional
delicacies on offer. In short, Tirol is home to both action and relaxation during the beautiful winter months that sees our region come to life in the most beautiful, charming and snowy way!

Working with influencers and why Tirol is an ideal location for the Social Travel Summit

Working with influencers has become an important part of the communication and marketing strategy at the Tirol Tourist Board over the last few years. For us, it is an up-to- date addition to our work in the fields of PR and content marketing. Influencers are important ambassadors and content creators that help us to increase brand awareness and to get our message to specific target groups through various channels.

Hosting the 2017 edition of the Social Travel Summit in Kitzbühel gives us the unique opportunity to showcase Tirol as THE number one holiday destination in the Alps to some of the most important influencers and multipliers in the travel industry. Kitzbühel is the perfect venue and a reliable partner to host a high quality conference like the Social Travel Summit. Plus, the surrounding landscape is the perfect setting to offer an attractive program for the influencers in order to create high quality content about our holiday destination, and to do so at the end of the summer season is an opportunity to present the region at a special time when there may be less snow on the ground, but there’s just as much to see and do.

Influencers and industry delegates at the Social Travel Summit in Tirol can look forward to stunning mountain sceneries, typical Tirolean food and some more surprises I won’t reveal right now. But let me tell you, that we’re already more than excited to welcome all attendees in Kitzbühel, Tirol. It’s going to be a great #STSKitzbuehel for sure!
