Britain is a land of mystery and mystique with every region offering a different experience. It’s packed full of #HiddenGems to send your unique URL visitor figures soaring. Once the Social Travel Summit ends, VisitBritain is giving a bunch of influencers the opportunity to delve a little deeper and unearth some of Britain’s more offbeat destinations. To fuel your excitement for your trip, here are some highlights from a few of the #OMGB excursions we’ve arranged for influencers to experience…

Take the high roads in Scotland

A route that rivals the likes of the USA’s Route 66, the North Coast 500 (NC500) exhibits the coastal edges of the North Highlands in Scotland. Beginning in the capital of the Highlands, Inverness, the route is just over 500 miles long. Perfect for cars, motorbikes cyclists and walkers alike, it is arguably one of the most scenic routes in Scotland and the NC500 brings together the guts and soul of the North Highlands. Along the epic journey there’ll be plenty of opportunities to capture something unique with spectacular beaches such as Dornoch, stunning mountain ranges like Ben Hope and mesmerising castles such as the fairytale Dunrobin. Join in the conversation online with #ScotSpirit and #OMGB to share your Instagrammable moments.

And because Scotland offers an extraordinary amount of breath-taking outdoors experiences, we’re taking some of our influencers on Scotland’s only funicular railway, up the stunning Cairngorms Mountain. Enjoy the wonderful vistas of Cairngorms National Park, and eat lunch in the Ptarmigan Restaurant, then take the chance to snap a panoramic pic from over 3,500ft. On the same trip, canoe down the river Spey: the water of life that feeds some of Scotland’s most famous whisky distilleries, which will make a perfect story for your Instagram feed.

Unearth the unknown in Northern Ireland

Did you know that Northern Ireland is home to some of the most iconic Game of Thrones locations? Set amongst a scene of dramatic intent, our influencers will be transported via a luxury ‘NED’ Range Rover through the County Down countryside to the real Westeros Winterfell experience.

A visit to the Winterfell set at Old Castle Ward gives an insight into the intimate nooks of the beautiful castle and the sprawling grounds, which all feature in the epic adaptation.

This is just one destination on this excursion; there are many filming locations to discover along the infamous 120-mile-route Causeway Coastal Route, which goes from Belfast Lough to Lough Foyle linking the pretty little coastal villages of Glenarm, Carnlough, Cushendall, Cushendun and Ballintoy.

Unmissable attractions besides Game of Thrones locations include Carrickfergus Castle, The Gobbins Cliff Path, the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge, Dunluce Castle, Old Bushmills Distillery and the Giant’s Causeway – one of the UK’s World Heritage Sites.

To truly exhibit how diverse England is, we’re giving influencers the opportunity to share with their followers the wonder of Bristol and Bath. Here you can snap English culture through the ages – from the renowned elegance and refinement of Regency England to modern-day street art by the world’s most famous graffiti artist. Did you know that Bristol is the home of Banksy?

The trip takes in a fascinating street art tour of the city, stopping at some of Banksy’s earliest works, as well as other artists inspired by him. Plenty of opportunities to whip out your DLSR and snap that perfect blog post picture.

Push your limits in Wales

Zip World Titan.

Zip World Titan.

Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoc. Nope that’s not a typo – it’s a destination on the Wales adventure trip. You can always pronounce it plain old “Llanfair PG” – but where’s the fun in that?! As well as visiting unpronounceable places, you will discover why Wales is rapidly becoming the world’s adventure playground. White-water raft along the Afon Tryweryn, bounce, slide, roll and jump from net to net in a cavern the size of a cathedral at the truly inimitable Bounce Below and take a 70mph plunge over jagged quarries on Zip World’s Titan.

Prefer a taste sensation? Then take a culinary walking tour of Cardiff followed by a visit to Pettigrew’s Tea Rooms, where a small dedicated team source all ingredients locally – most come from within a just 15-mile radius! Also, don’t forget to check-out the Teifi farmhouse cheese at Ginhaus Deli – it’s made using raw milk and has won at both the True Taste and World Cheese Awards.

When you’re out on your trips, don’t forget to use #OMGB. If you don’t make it on a trip this time, make sure you come back to experience the best of what Britain has to offer another time.
